This is our first attempt at shooting and directing in AS Media, we had to record a Stalking scene which we didn't think was going to be hard but ended up being quite tricky. We used a range of shots including panning, long shots, low angle shots, point of view shots and mid shots.
We planned on using about 6 shots and ended up filming 9 shots, only using 4. We had issues with continuity and had a slightly confusing run of events. Our range of shots helped to develop the story a little, but it doesn't seem to fit or run smoothly.
The final clip has a fast pace as we used a Point Of View shot for the stalker whilst stalking the girl, including a lot of sounds and effects in the background such as heartbeats and eerie music.
We feel that it could be improved by having a better flow of events as this would make the story easier to follow. We could have a steadier camera as we didn't set up the tripod well enough causing the camera to shake a lot.

And so it begins....
So today was our first proper lesson looking at what sort of horror films we would like to be doing. Me, Amber, and Abby decided that we would like to be doing a Ritual/Possession film, sort of like the Blair Witch Project.
Last lesson we started looking at some of the different editing techniques we might want to use on our video. We decided that some of the different effects we may use, but things like fog and mist, can be created naturally by filming early one winter morning.
We brainstormed the different key conventions used in typical horror films as well as ones in the same style of the film that we're doing to give us ideas as to what would and wouldn't work if we tried to use them in our film.
We sat and discussed different locations where we could shoot part of our horror film, and decided that some woods in Bakersfield would be good!! We think that they would look quite creepy, and that its the sort of place that a bunch of teenagers would like to go camping and partying! Good setting for a horror we think! (:
